After graduating from High School I had no idea exactly where I was heading. I just knew that I wanted to pursue something important that would provide the opportunity to tap into my creativity. After a few months I decided that I'd take the next step and explore 3D Animation. Gaming has been a passion of mine since I first picked up a Sega Genesis when I was very young. I was accepted into the 3D program at The Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University in '05. I earned 2 Certificates. The first one in 3D Animation (9 month accelerated program) and the second certificate in Game Art and Design (4 month accelerated program.) Each program was 5 days a week 6-10 hours a day depending on material.
I'm passionate about what I do. I work really well with people and I like to lighten up the mood with the people I work with and have fun, while getting work done and maintaining desired quality. I always meet deadlines and I'm good at giving input when it's needed. I've worked on two practicums at CDIA. The first was for a Children's Hospital in Boston. It was an animated short film due out in '08, to educate children on what cancer is. I was responsible for creating environments with teams to get everything as close to what the director wanted as possible. I was in charge of the forest scene in the beginning of the film. This involved creation of everything from the trees, to animation. I also had to ensure that our teams work and processes were aligned and stayed on track. I also contributed my recommendations into a variety of the scenes.
The second practicum was a Western Modification for Unreal Tournament 2004. I was in charge of all the character development for the game. I would be given the 2D sketches (sometimes just general ideas) and I'd go off with one person and make them into 3D models. I assisted with textures. Due to time constraints I also did most of the skinning, rigging, and all the exporting and importing for the characters.
I really enjoyed my experience at CDIA and I am eager to get out in the world and work on creating environments and characters for games as my career. Some of my favorite games include (Half-life 1-2, Counter-Strike and source, StarCraft, Star Wars Games(Jedi Knight games, Knights of the Old Republic, & Old Star Wars Galaxies before terrible patches), etc. I love movies as well. I've seen just about everything there is too see (with a few exceptions). I love abstract films and sci-fi action/adventure movies in particular. Some of my favorite movies are (Serenity, Solaris, Star Wars, Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Screamers, Mirrormask, The Fountain, Vanilla Sky, etc.) I also love the TV series Lost, Stargate SG-1, Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica, and Jericho.
